Jeesus ja Galileo

Nikolai Ge Quod est veritas?
kuva wikimedia
(Joh 18:38)

sillä Jeesus sanoo Johanneksen evankeliumissa "Minä olen tie, totuus ja elämä" (Joh 14:6)

Jeesus lupaa Johanneksen evankeliumissa, että Hän lähettää Pyhän Hengen, joka johdattaa hänen opetuslapsensa "kaikkeen totuuteen" (Joh 16:13)

Jeesus määrittelee Johanneksen evankeliumissa Isää Jumalaa rukoillessaan " Pyhitä heidät totuudessa; sinun sanasi on totuus". (Joh 17:17)

Psalmissa on tästä kirjoitettu "Sinun sanasi on kokonansa totuus, ja kaikki sinun vanhurskautesi oikeudet pysyvät iankaikkisesti." (Ps 119:60)

Näin saamme kokonaisuuden Jeesus on totuus, Jeesuksen Henki johdattaa kaikkeen totuuteen, Jeesus on Jumalan Sana, Logos, Jumalan Sana on kokonansa totuus.

Kristuksen kirkko totuutta vastaan pyhän Raamatun tuella - sillä Raamattu on maakeskeisen ajan kirja.

Mitä olisikaan tapahtunut, jos Galileon puolustajat olisivat voittaneet Vatikaanissa tuossa kohtalokkaassa tilanteessa?

Totuus-kolari
One of the first suggestions of heresy that Galileo had to deal with came in 1613 from a professor of philosophy, poet and specialist in Greek literature, Cosimo Boscaglia. In conversation with Galileo's patron Cosimo II de' Medici and Cosimo's mother Christina of Lorraine, Boscaglia said that the telescopic discoveries were valid, but that the motion of the Earth was obviously contrary to Scripture:

"Dr. Boscaglia had talked to Madame [Christina] for a while, and though he conceded all the things you have discovered in the sky, he said that the motion of the earth was incredible and could not be, particularly since Holy Scripture obviously was contrary to such motion."

Galileo was defended on the spot by his former student Benedetto Castelli, now a professor of mathematics andBenedictine abbot. The exchange reported to Galileo by Castelli, Galileo decided to write a letter to Castelli, expounding his views on what he considered the most appropriate way of treating scriptural passages which made assertions about natural phenomena. Later, in 1615, he expanded this into his much longer Letter to the Grand Duchess Christina

  1. Tuosta viimeisimmän linkin takaa pääsee englanninkielisen Wikipedian artikkeliin, jossa puolestaan on linkki sivulle, joka päästää ääneen Galilein itsensä: http://www.inters.org/galilei-madame-christina-Lorraine Suosittelen lämpimästi!

    1. Samoin suosittelen tutustumista Galileon omaan uskonnolliseen ajatteluun paremmin.

  2. Petrin mainitsema artikkeli kannattaa tosiaan lukea, vaikka pitkä onkin ja englanniksi. Tulee niin mieleen Petrin argumentit katolisen kirkon argumenteista.

Näemme saman siinä, ettei kiinnosta kalareissulle osallistuminen Petriä eikä Laodikeaa, varmaankin samoin argumentein kuin Galileon havaintojen vastustajilla oli:

"[...] Well, the passage of time has revealed to everyone the truths that I previously set forth; and, together with the truth of the facts, there has come to light the great difference in attitude between those who simply and dispassionately refused to admit the discoveries to be true, and those who combined with their incredulity some reckless passion of their own. Men who were well grounded in astronomical and physical science were persuaded as soon as they received my first message. There were others who denied them or remained in doubt only because of their novel and unexpected character, and because they had not yet had the opportunity to see for themselves. These men have by degrees come to be satisfied. But some, besides allegiance to their original error, possess I know not what fanciful interest in remaining hostile not so much toward the things in question as toward their discoverer. No longer being able to deny them, these men now take refuge in obstinate silence, but being more than ever exasperated by that which has pacified and quieted other men, they divert their thoughts to other fancies and seek new ways to damage me. Myöskään metodit eivät ole muutamassa sadassa vuodessa muuttuneet:

"[...] First they have endeavored to spread the opinion that such propositions in general are contrary to the Bible and are consequently damnable and heretical. They know that it is human nature to take up causes whereby a man may oppress his neighbor, no matter how unjustly, rather than those from which a man may receive some just encouragement. Hence they have had no trouble in finding men who would preach the damnability and heresy of the new doctrine from their very pulpits with unwonted confidence, thus doing impious and inconsiderate injury not only to that doctrine and its followers but to all mathematics and mathematicians in general. Next, becoming bolder, and hoping (though vainly) that this seed which first took root in their hypocritical minds would send out branches and ascend to heaven, they began scattering rumors among the people that before long this doctrine would be condemned by the supreme authority. They know, too, that official condemnation would not only suppress the two propositions which I have mentioned, but would render damnable all other astronomical and physical statements and observations that have any necessary relation or connection with these. In order to facilitate their designs, they seek so far as possible (at least among the common people) to make this opinion seem new and to belong to me alone. [...]"

    1. Voimme tietysti aikamme lapsina sanoa "Ptolemaios oli väärässä, Kepler oli väärässä, Galileo oli väärässä, Einstein oli väärässä"

Sillä tieto luomakunnasta lisääntyy valtavaa vauhtia.

Tiesitkö, että tällä hetkellä kosmologiassa käydään keskustelua "universumista". Ehkä ei olekaan yhdestä Big Bangista alkanut maailmankaikkeus, vaan monia maailmankaikkeuksia "multiversum"

Silloin suurin osa kosmologian oppikirjoista on väärässä.

En sanoisi niin, vaan "eivät vielä tienneet"

Väärässä olivat Galileon arvostelijat, jotka sanoivat, että maa on maalmankaikkeuden keskus, jonka yllä aurinko kulkee rataansa.

He kieltäytyivät katsomasta mitä Jumala on tehnyt ja pitäytyivät siihen, mitä uskoivat.

Taivaat on nähty omina kaikkeuksinaan.

    1. "Mutta asuisiko Jumala ihmisten kanssa maan päällä? Taivasten taivaatkaan eivät ole sinulle kyllin avarat -- miten sitten tämä temppeli, jonka olen rakentanut!
      2 Aik 6:18

Kyllä kosmologit tutkivat hyvin vakavasti mikroaaltokartoituksessa havaittua valtavaa kylmää aluetta, ei filosofeilla ole tähän aiheeseen mitään havainnoitavia työkaluja.

    2. Raamattua nosti korkealle ilmaan Charles Darwinin hyvä ystävä, H.M.S. Beaglen kapteeni, sittemmin amiraali Sir Robert FitzRoy.

kirjoitin aiheesta hieman kalareissu 2013 blogissani
